It’s named Byzantium because of the Greek refugees who settled in the area at the beginning of the 20th century. Today it is a district of the Municipality of Kalamaria and is the western border with the Municipality of Thessaloniki. It is a quiet area with green and free spaces and is located near the commercial market on Egeou, Adrianoupoleos and Ethnikis Antistaseos streets.
